An interview with Kirsty Sleep

 The Mind Blogg(els)

As I was trying to get to sleep the other night, my next task from the Better Women’s Network was on my mind. Writing a blog about “What we are selling?”! I thought to myself, I do not mind the writing part of the blog, which I find enjoyable, but the stumbling block (not blog) comes when I see words like URLs, internet hosting, the adding of links. Thinking about it, they all make me nervous and quite confused. I  realized this is because I do not know or understand the online marketing “language of love”.  For me to feel totally comfortable and up to speed with online marketing, I need to “speak the lingo”.

So as my mind scooted off in the direction of “I want to be a Millionaire”, I thought yes… that is what I will do, “PHONE A FRIEND”. That friend happens to be Kirsty Sleep, the founder of the Better Women’s Network. I asked her if she could explain the meanings and basics lingo of online marketing, and, of course, as always, Kirsty was only too willing to help.

Hi Kirsty,

“We are selling subscriptions for people to join Global NPN, who provide us, via our monthly subscription, with all the online tools which are needed in any successful online business. But, it is more than that, we belong to the Better Women’s Network, who actually guide us every step of the way. Please tell us more about the Better Women’s Network and your mission as founder of this group”.

Hello Delysia,

“You are right, we are doing so much more in the Better Women’s Network than just selling subscriptions to the Global NPN internet marketing tool kit. We help our women members every day to learn how to use these tools and how to market online themselves as well as how to create an online presence and business from that. Our mission is to help 100,000 women to learn how to use the internet to change their circumstances – from whatever it is they are wanting to change. We attract women from all walks of life in many different countries with different reasons: however, one thread runs through it all – we all want to help ourselves and help others whilst doing so”.

What is blogging and where and how do other people see it?

” Blogging is like writing a diary, however it is online and it is seen by anyone and everyone. Mostly, it is seen by people that type an enquiry in to a search-engine (eg. Google) and that enquiry matches very closely to what we have written about. In our case it would likely be work from home for women.

What is a URL and HTML? How do we find our URL?

” A URL is the Abbreviation for Unique Resource Locator (otherwise know as the address of a World Wide Web WWW page)
Our URL is found most easily by going to the “page” you wish to send people to online, and then copying the link that shows up in the “search bar” at the top of the screen. It will start normally with http://www/. and end with something like .com”.

“HTML The short answer is that HTML stands for HyperText Markup Language. But the long answer (and not sure you need to know all of this) is found in this article I enjoyed:” http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20070701002616AAIjcnS

What are links?

“A link is a reference to another document. Such links are sometimes called hot links because they take you to other documents when you click on them”.

Why do we use an Auto responder?

“An auto responder is a way of sending pre-written emails to a recipient at a predetermined time.
It is also a way to collect email addresses of persons interested in what we have to say, like a mailing list of old”.

Internet Hosting account. What is it and why do we need it?

“Hosting is where our website address lives. Web hosting refers to a service that makes your website available to your users. In general, most websites are intended to be viewed by anyone on the Internet, at any time. 24 hours per day, 7 days per week”.

What are NPN Multi-Ad Trackers?

“A computer software program that counts the number of times people click on a special link you create with the program. Tracking your ads is imperative if you want to know where your visitors are coming from so you can re-run the right ads and forget the rest”.

Thanks so much Kirsty Sleep, you really are a wealth of information. I can see how fortunate I am to belong to the Better Women’s Network, Being able to work from the comfort of my own home, with a group of supportive women who are willing to help every step of the way.

Delysia

Hi all just to share a little bit about myself with you. I was born many moons ago, in beautiful Cape Town, South Africa. I moved to Sydney, Australia almost three years ago and have subsequently moved to a small seaside town, called Port Macquarie, also in NSW, Australia. I believe in the "language of love" and the law of attraction. For years I have looked for a way to earn an income from home. Through Better Womens Network I was introduced to GlobalNPN and here is where the next exciting journey in my life begins. ■"There is no passion to be found playing small - in settling for a life that is less than the one you are capable of living." • Wonderful summary of “web speak” and really reassuring for other newbies to the whole scene. Well Done! 😉

  • This is a great way to begin … an excellent post. Doing interviews like this are a great way to get recognised . It places you in the influence circle – using top marketers to help you in this way, identifies you as influencial too. Geoff Stephen, Chris Farrell and others have contributed to my blog in the past. It helps with Traffic too… because top marketers are always being searched out on the internet. So when they key in those search phrases they will come across your blog too!..

    Well done Delysia

    Best wishes

    Peter

  • What a great post Delysia – and I agree with Pete, in what I have learned so far in the few short months that I have knuckled down to be serious about my online presence to stimulate my business growth, association is absolute gold! Love your style girlfriend!
