Debunking The Myth That Everyone Is Your Prospect
Believing that everyone is your prospect, as taught by most MLM companies, has destroyed the image for the professional business woman who desires to build a business from home.
Because of this myth, that everyone is your prospect, people have the incorrect belief that talking to anyone and everyone within 3 feet is an effective way to promote a business.
Unfortunately, this “3 foot rule” and other similar tactics have placed network marketing on the same level as a street hustler in the minds of most people.
This creates a huge problem for the woman who wants to build a home business. It is one of the major reasons why it very difficult to find like-minded women who want to:
- build a significant income through a home-based business
- create a better life for themselves and their families.
- stay at home with their children,
- contribute to the family income
- retire their spouse,
- build a legacy
- support favourite charities
- travel
If you have attempted one or more times to build a home based MLM business…
…then you understand exactly what I am talking about.
You understand how the “3 foot rule” makes you feel horrible when you are told to solicit friends and strangers. It certainly does not make you feel professional.
As a professional business woman your job is to get the maximum return for your time and effort; and that means that you spend your time with like-minded people.
You do not want to always be looking for a way to work the conversation around to your business opportunity. You begin to feel very weary and insincere when you are forever looking for the opening. Have you been there done that?
The reality is that many women are not interested in your business opportunity
Some women love their jobs and would never give them up. Others have absolutely no desire to build a business, learn how to use social media for business, or do anything that involves selling or putting themselves out there.
Wouldn’t it be much nicer and easier to not worry about sticking to a business “script”? Then you can enjoy your friends and meet new people without a hidden agenda.
You may be thinking that the “3 foot rule” only applies to offline marketing, but you would be wrong. Take a look at Facebook groups – network marketers are again acting like hustlers – they seldom take part in group conversations; they simply send their business links out automatically to several groups at once.
Just like the offline strategy of thinking everyone is your prospect the online tactic is even worse – it hits (spams) thousands of people at the same time. The links are annoying and ignored more than they are ever opened.
Are you interested in a solution for your home business?
Here are 2 ways to build a home business professionally:
- Align yourself with women who are successful, know how to market online effectively, and are willing to share their knowledge with you. Working with a supportive team and successful leaders helps you to learn correctly the first time.
- Be willing to learn the new skills, take action, and put them into practice; then be ready to share what you have learned with more women.
To Your Success,
