Are you time challenged?
I consider myself to be a fairly typical busy person. Im a Mum….enough said!! But I do also work Full Time.
Some days everything goes completely pear shaped and I run around feeling more like the Mad Hatter rather than Wonder Woman! I’m sure you can relate!
The point I am trying to make is that I am busy and I really don’t have much time at all to fit in running a business….yet I have successfully managed to do it and you can too:-)
My Top 5 Tips for running a successful online business for busy Mums are:
1. Find an opportunity that you can easily do in 30 minutes per day. We can all find an extra 30 minutes in a day right? This point is critical. You MUST find a business opportunity that you only need to focus on for a short period of time each day. Let’s face it, you really don’t have the time for anything more than this. If it cant be done in 30 minutes per day you are setting yourself up for failure before you start.
2. Work with people who know what to do and can teach you quickly, so that you aren’t wasting time “finding your own way”. Mentors are great, they have walked the talk and will teach you one step at a time. Supportive groups of people who are all helping and supporting each other are also invaluable. If there isn’t already such a group for what you are doing, set one up and start inviting! There is nothing worse than feeling like it is you against the world!
3. Work out what the “IPA’s” are (Income Producing Activities), that are directly related to generating sales or income. Prepare a list so that you always have them on hand. These are the activities you should START with. It is so easy to get distracted with the things that “spin our wheels”, like reading our emails, checking Facebook etc and these certainly chew up most of our 30 minute time slot before we know it! Then we either accomplish nothing in our time frame or our time frame blows out massively. This then becomes a habit and we feel overwhelmed, frustrated and confused. So make starting off with the IPA’s a HABIT. Eg for me, an IPA would be advertising in Facebook Groups, writing blog posts and syndicating my blog posts.
You most likely aren’t going to get through all of your IPA’s each day, so create a to do list for the next day so that you always start with an action plan.
4. Work out the time where you produce your best work (for me that is between 9pm and 11pm at night..the kids are in bed asleep, no-one is calling or popping in at that hour and the house is generally quiet…). It’s so important that you can concentrate and wont be interrupted.
5. Commitment. Commit to do several “IPA’s” EVERY DAY. If you do a little bit each day, firstly, it becomes a habit in a short period of time and secondly, it wont feel overwhelming. Let’s face it life is going to happen and you will have days where you just cant work on your business. Don’t feel bad or guilty, put it behind you and move on! But have the commitment to do it in the first place.
Have you heard the statement “Busy people get things done”?
Well it’s true! By following the 5 tips above, I am now generating a growing income stream in just 30 minutes per day.
I’m not perfect, life happens sometimes, but I’m doing it and you can too if you want to.
To your success –
