How To Set Up Your GVO Hosting Account
In this video, I show you how to set up your hosting account after you have purchased your domain name.
If you haven’t purchased a domain name go here to learn how to choose the one that suits you.
I use 3 different hosting accounts….you should never have all your eggs in one basket. I use GVO, BlueHost, Global NPN. Each one of them work basically the same, so I used GVO to demonstrate how easy it is to set up.
I bought my domain from Godaddy. I buy all my domains from Godaddy because they have the best customer service.
That being said, I do not like Godaddy’s hosting at all. I tried it and I rather use a hosting with cpanel. A Cpanel hosting is simpler to use in my opinion. Is “Simpler” even a word”, but you get my drift.
After you buy a domain name you have to change the nameservers to your hosting companies. Nameservers are special computers accessible on the Internet. It tells where a website is located (That was the simplest definition, I could find.)
Changing My Nameservers To GVO Hosting’s Nameservers
Your hosting company will tell you the name of the nameservers you should use. In the video I show you how to login to both your GVO – HostThenProfit Site copy the nameservers.
After you copy the nameservers you need to log in to your Godaddy account and go to my account and then domains. Click on the launch tab beside the domain. Click on Nameservers and set nameservers in the drop down menu.
You will then click on “I have specific nameservers for my domain.” Then copy the nameserver in the “Namerserver 1” box. Do the same for “Nameserver 2” but make sure you change the “1” to a “2” of course.
Click OK and you should have a message letting you know it may take up to 48 hours. I have never had it take that long…just so you know…usually within the hour for me.
Adding Your Domain To Your GVO Hosting Account
Now you need to go back to your GVO hosting account. Click on your Web Host Manager. Afterwards you will have to click “Click Here To Access Your Web Host Manager.”
Now, click on create an account. Type your domain without the http://. GVO Hosting will choose a username for you. You can change it. It is up to you. Also, I would let the password generator pick a password. Usually those passwords are hard to hack.
Add your email address. You are not a reseller so you don’t have to worry about choosing a package. The cpanel and DNS settings are fine. I would use the recommended setting for the mail routing. Click create.
On the next page you will see that you have your domain set to your GVO hosting account. Now go to your search bar and type in http://yourdomainname.com/cpanel and you should be able to sign into your cpanel.
I have other articles about online marketing. Click on the “Internet Marketing” tab at the top of the page.
If you have any questions contact me by phone, facebook or skype. I will be glad to help.
