I have been reviewing the online marketing action guide written by Dr. Ken Evoy, Founder of SiteSell.com. The main thing I have gotten so far from this guide is that there is a 4-step process every online marketer must go through before experiencing success on the web. He calls it the “C-T-P-M” process. According to the guide, the first step, “C” stands for “Content”; the second step, “T” is Traffic; the third step,”P” is “Pre-Sell”; and “M” stands for “Monetize.”
The first thing most people do after registering their own domain is, they create a website with the intent of making money right away. That’s like putting the cart before the horse. According to the Action Guide that I am reviewing, the monetization process doesn’t begin until you have gone through a brain-storming process that helps identify your site concept, which would help you write key-word focused content pages. That’s step one.
The second step involves driving traffic to your web site, using all kinds of traffic-generation techniques, including search engine optimization and “Pay-per-Clicks.” This traffic generation phase is one of the most important steps in the 4-step process.
The third step is to build win-win relationships with your web site visitors. By over-delivering on what they want, you can get them to know, like, and trust you more. This, Dr. Evoy, calls the “Pre-Selling” stage. This “romancing the customer” stage is designed to get them ready for Step 4, the “Monetize.” phase.
In Step 4, you are ready to “Monetize” your web site through various monetization models, such as Google Adsense, Affiliate Marketing, and Joint Ventures. In this step, your customers will be in the right frame of mind to listen to your recommendations. Since they are already “pre-sold” back in Step 3 above, making the sale and collecting the check becomes a “no-brainer.”
