There are many things required to build a successful online business but there are two that I consider to be the most important…
Secret #1: Be Persistent
Once you settle on a business model, it is really important that you stay focused and really give it a go. These days, we are inundated with marketing messages and it is really easy to succumb to “Shiny Object Syndrome” and be drawn off to something else before you’ve given what you’re working on a fair chance to be successful.
All you’ll be doing is putting money into the pockets of other marketers and not progressing to where money is coming in to yours.
Stay focused and give it a good chance to succeed. Set a goal to commit to it for a specific period of time that gives you a reasonable chance to succeed – at least 6 months to 1 year. During that time, stop looking at other “Latest and Greatest” things that pop into your email.
Secret #2: Be Consistent
In order to be successful, not only do you need to persist and give it a go chance, but you must consistently work at it. Taking a hit and miss approach will dilute your efforts and make it harder to maintain momentum. It’s like trying to roll a large ball to the top of a hill – if you stop putting in effort consistently you won’t reach the goal and could lose any advancement you’ve made.
Commit to a specific amount of time that you will spend each day and then work on your business for that time every day. This could be time go over trainings to help with things you aren’t sure about, spending time brainstorming new products, finding more ways to drive traffic to your Squeeze pages. You are using Squeeze pages to build your email list right? I have another post that will explain why not doing so will make you miss out on lots of money you could otherwise be earning!
By consistently working to improve your knowledge, testing different approaches and persisting for the length of time you committed to, you will make far more advances in building your business than by trying to find the “Magic Bullet” that will instantly make you successful. Just so you know – they don’t exist (but you really already knew that deep down, right?).
I hate to admit that I spent many years not following this advice. I had some minor successes along the way, but it never grew into anything substantial. Looking back, I can see that I’ve been persistent, but not very consistent.
I’ve persisted in searching for what would work, but haven’t been consistent in the application or persisted long enough to make it successful.
Does that sound like you?
If so, I hope you’ll do yourself a favour and commit to implementing these 2 Secrets into building your online business.
Oh, and stick around to discover the 4 steps that you must be persistent and consistent with in order to build a successful online business.
