I got this alert from one of the high-dollar print newsletter writers I subscribe to.
He was talking about a tactic where wannabe gurus who are obviously posturing are telling there subscribers to “get off my
list”.
Now I ask you. Is that polite?
Why on earth would these jokers tell someone to get off their list?
Surely everyone that subscribes to their list knows how to unsubscribe.
Heck, an unsubscribe link is practically required by law.
By the way, that’s one of the things that really aggravates me about email. I want an easy, one click unsubscribe.
I absolutely despise having to try to figure out how to unsubscribe.
It’s all fun and games when you subscribe. Then they act like the end of the world when you want out.
Jeez.
Back to the story at hand.
The thing is, if you’re putting out good stuff that at least some people want to read, you’re golden.
Not everyone is gonna want your emails. That’s cool. But you don’t have to be a peckerhead and tell them to get lost.
That’s just rude.
So keep putting out those good emails, segment your lists, and the people that love you will be happy.
Those that don’t? Well, they’ll find their way down to the unsubscribe link and check out.
No biggie.
