Help – I need to lose weight!

As a Naturopath the questions I get asked most frequently is “How can I lose weight?” “I need to lose weight, what can I do?” “I don’t eat much but I can’t lose weight. Is there a pill I can take?”

Well my answer is always the same. Lets answer some simple questions and we will see what we can do.

1. How long have you been gaining weight for? (usually the answer to this is unanswerable as they don’t remember)

2. Why do you want to lose weight? What is your motivation? (It is really important to find your motivation as it is the only thing that can sustain the changes we are going to make)

3. What have you already tried? and What has helped?

4. Are you able to make sustainable lifestyle changes? Are you ready to make sustainable lifestyle changes?

Right, so now we have the nitty gritty questions I can begin my work of advising patients on simple steps they can take to change their lifestyle.

Weight loss is not a magic pill. Think: How long did you take to gain weight? Usually it was a gradual process for which you did not really notice or you did not have the energy/ motivation to control. Now you can have both energy and motivation but you need to start slow and be realistic. You gained the weight over time you will lose it over time and the more dedicated you are to changing your lifestyle for good the more weight you will lose.

One of my biggest problems with weight loss clients is the weight they want to achieve. You need to be realistic. Not everyone is size 8. A healthy weight is not SKINNY it is HEALTHY and when people begin to realise this they stop rebounding weight and start living.

So answer the questions and think about your motivation. I will blog more on weight loss and healthy changes you can incorporate into you daily life to make a difference. It is about changing your perspective to change your weight.

I am new to the marketing world. My background is as a Naturopath and a Nutritionalist but I am fascinated by marketing. It is something I NEED to use to run any of my successful businesses.
