As you can probably tell from my profile picture I’m currently bearded. Why? well I like my face this way plain and simple!
Now what is surprising is the number of beard websites springing up all over the net these days, not to mention a whole bunch of Face Book Beard Fan Pages. I recently “liked” one particular beard fan page that has received over 104000 likes!
Anyway, I’ve found out that there are quite a few guys posting all kinds of questions about growing their beard, and I’ve found a few really good sites that are answering these guys questions really well. What’s my point? Good question! Did I mention that I love my beard? LOL
Seriously though, I think it’s great that people are creating websites and fan pages addressing everything from how to grow your beard, groom your beard, girl friends and beards, dealing with negative comments about your beard, and so on.
For example, how does a man deal with someone that’s just told them to shave that “thing” (beard) off, you’ll look better, younger, studlier. Hmm? I could think of a few colorful words, but never mind lol.
Or how do you get past that dreaded itchy stage without caving in and shaving? Not an easy feat I can tell you, but not impossible. Stay committed, that’s your answer. The itchy stage will pass, just hang in there. Your girl friend may grow to love your beard too!
Here’s another surprising thing, beards are getting a whole lot of attention from social media these days. Opinions abound, some negative, heaps positive. It’ s like suddenly beards are the “in thing.” I can tell you from personal experience that this is good because I can remember when it was the other way around.
The first time I ever grew my beard (1987) I noticed people would avoid me like the plague. This hurt a little but I kept growing it anyway. Then came the negative comments from family and friends. I still kept growing, but there came a day when I caved into the social pressure and shaved. Sad was that day, never mind I’ve since learned to Love my Beard no matter who says what!
Moral of this story? Love your Beard and grow grow grow!
Do you have beard experiences? Then please leave a comment, I’d love to hear your story!
