Blog-posting about a subject is a very refreshing way of focusing one’s mind. Especially for me if I feel I give value….. more about that later….
Ambitions to make it better than the last couple of posts grow, – and then you hit the wall, ….. BAM.
…….Now all the initial good ideas are gone, – or already written about.
Then what? Leave the money on the table and quit? What is your “WHY”?
Why are you writing blog posts? – because someone told you? – because you have your back against the wall economical, – or just to express yourself and give value to help others?
EmpowerNetwork can help with that thinking process, but there are 3 steps:
1. Join Me (Marie) here in EmpowerNetwork
2. Study Faststart (only $25)
3. Go “all-in” and learn in more depth in the more advanced products
4. Well, – apply it 🙂 ….. Often people tend to conserve the expensive product in the plastic wrap on their self, or if an online product on their harddrive untouched. That’s not the “best way”, – ****ACTIVATE IT****, simple yet powerful but so hard when life get’s in the way and the next new program distracts you. …. I prefer, – you decide, – to go all-in to get the whole picture – the common reference platform, – I know, Masters course IS the masters course in many ways, – then do your blogging, an earn it as a gift from your own company for work well done.
Now back to blog-posting and what to with it….
How do you solve this void feeling inside,
– knowing that “void inside” equals “void blog posts”?
Well – one way is running around in circles 🙂
…. It may help some, – just to get exercise, but it was not the body weight I referred to, but to oxygen level in your brain.
Your brain need energy, water, air, activating brain-muscles and – well, this is not a blog post about the brain, – you just need to make you a good working “place” to produce more – in this case your blog posts.
Another approach is to find a piece of paper (and a pencil) or a notepad program on your electronic device, like Wordpad on PC’s (due to the abillity to active links, – just in case), like TextEdit app in Mac’s (same reason), or Evernote.
Evernote can cloud-communicate between your smartphone(s), laptop(s) or tablet(s). You can capture notes, pictures, drawings on the fly and work on it later for finishing the blogpost (tag’ing, publishing etc.).
MindMaps helps me a lot, but I often mix the two, – mapping and TextEdit sprayed with a few Evernote ideas, when far from home. You chose, – it’s your business, – really, but just a few tips. Evernote has just integrated some new features I havn’t even tried yet.
Before we move on some practical tips on organising notes, – or I would leave you more confused in a couple of weeks….. – or even running in circles 🙂
I often organize them in the title (of each file) like
- “2013-02-04 To-Do”,
- “February 2013”,
- “Blogging ideas” or
- “Video 1 notes” in case of an important educational video
- “To-Be 2013” is my yearly goal process revisited once a month for evaluation and progress
….Are you taking notes now? (….you should…..)
Notes can be taken everywhere at any time, – don’t rely on short term memory. Some even make a journal, go find Jim Rohn’s “How to make a journal” and be inspired.
……Who said that notes ONLY are notes you’ve made? I often capture screendump and save them between my notes in a .rtf file (that will convert it into a .rtfd)
Save them in appropriate folders before your harddrive gets cluttered (and another task appear, – sorting out what is worth saving).
- Lists in general goes into “Notes and maps”
- Blog ideas goes into “business/blog-ideas” and
- Notes from videos into “Education/<course-name>/notes”.
I don’t spend time on unique names this way, notes from education learned 2 years ago don’t get mixed with yesterdays notes due to each folder is unique – “<course-name>” above could be “15K formula”or the “writing retreat for you new book in 2008”
….. and To-do lists are automatically sorted by date not just automatically but also in name. The last is important if you update the list with check marks or add new items on “an old” list (to keep number of files low).
If such a list grow to old I save the old, rename a copy, delete all finished items in the new list and add what’s new. I save the old as a way to see progress one month or 6 months from now
……if I need a pad on the back from my-self as self-employed, – who else will do that?
….. Now the capturing of ideas should be OK?
What works for you? …. Well be aware, notice the time of day…
What is your prime time?
…. I call it “prime-time” in the late mornings up to about lunch time, often, after an hour after lunch again a couple of hours prime time). You have a different biological watch, – this is just my perspective. Yours may be good too, – just be aware if you can improve what time of day you do the thinking stuff or the boring-need-to-be-done-stuff-only-successful-people-do.
What to blog about?
– what is your hobby?
– what has been your hobby?
– what would you like to have as a hobby?
– what books do you read? – what about a review or some new tips learnt?
– what news makes you tick? – another perspective on the news?
– what did your cat, dog, child, spouse do that your viewers can gain wisdom from or get to know you better?
….. but to new bloggers “setting up the system” is a venture into the unknown as well an a task on your list….
The basic settings, the funnel etc. is part of what you pay for in a network like EmpowerNetwork or BetterWomensNetwork, so the apostrofs was more
- – how to target
- – how to market
- – how to convert for social media
- – how to handle new bloggers and be there for them
- – how to avoid doing their work and this way steal their personal growth
- – how to setup an autoresponder to leverage time
- – how to collect all bills and receipts for the accountant (in you, or outsourced)
- – WHEN TO GO ALL IN
- – how x, when y, computer problem z, – you name it, plus all the unexpected
(That’s why your WHY is important, what is your end goal?)
Value-time friends …. (you have been very patient with me) …..
Brian Tracy has written this great little book “Eat That Frog“. In short: Do the worst tasks first. But what if you don’t like frogs??? – Maybe my approach work for you too?
This works for me (most of the time 🙂 ……….
Take your list – either prepared from yesterday or during the night notes (always keep a notepad and a pencil on your bed table), or the one you just made during reading this post, – find one or two small tasks that can be fixed within 15-30 minutes, and do them first, – yes, put the list aside and DO THEM. This gives you a bust to go on…..
Then get back to the list, – now that you already ARE working, – find a larger task, – the difficult ones, …. either because they are huge, difficult or even just tons of small things repeated “a million” times.
Then take a break , – congratulate your self by checkmark(s) on your list and strech. If it is on that time of day , eat lunch, take a brisk walk.
Remember to drink a lot of water (you need 2 litters a day, some say even more, to nurture your most important working tool, – the brain) or do something else. Then after 15-30 minutes get back to the list…..
Now, before the day gets too long and night comes, go through the list again and search for the most urgent. Now you have spent half your working day on tasks that wasn’t urgent so NOW it is urgent to make a prioritized choice and start working – and hopefully finish that task. If it was urgent this morning – well, – guess what? – the task should have been scheduled yesterday as urgent…….
This isn’t a stiff system, so you can make the three types in a different order, – after all it’s your responsible to your self as a business owner.
During the evning or just before bedtime, see what you have acomplished today, update the list, – perhaps something un-important now move closer to the urgent part of the list
By following the above approach you would now have accomplished:
- 1. You have finished some small tasks
- 2 You have started on, – maybe even finished a big “frog” goal
- 3. You have finished or started on an urgent goal.
….Tasks may fit into all three categories, but if a task is small (#1) and urgent (#3) put it in #1,
if it’s a new approach, some new stuff or a big frog goal, – split it into smaller pars, some parts of it may be split into #1, #2 and #3. Don’t let this part stress you 🙂 – just DO something.
… now I have to do a “frog” goal, so I better publish this post….. 🙂
