Eagles, Diamonds and Ducks Part 1

Once upon a time, a young girl with dreams of travelling and living a stress free lifestyle, was introduced to a book. This book was well written, a story with an important message that engraved itself in her heart and was forever more talking to her soul as she went about her everyday life.

The young girl grew up, found herself a good job and a man who was to become her husband and the father of her children. The message from that first book was archived as the world swallowed her up. Now a young woman, she lived day to day, from pay packet to pay packet – some weeks struggling to even pay for a few groceries and often getting her phone and electricity cut off by the companies that didn’t care that she had little income, a husband who was still acting like an adolescent and selfishly indulging in his own activities which often had him missing work so the money would come and go. The young woman couldn’t help thinking that there must be some way that she could achieve her dreams, the aged message that the book had left with her from years ago rising from the archives in her mind to tease her.

One day, a friend suggested that the young woman come along to a meeting where she may learn something that could change her life. The young woman was told to dress in business attire and be ready to be picked up at 7pm that night. Curious and with nothing to lose, the young woman did as she was told and went along with her friends to this meeting. In a large room filled with people all facing a small stage, the young woman felt a little out of place as everyone seemed to know everybody else and they were all laughing and sharing stories, patting each other on the back and congratulating one another. Sitting down once the meeting began, the young woman listened in awe as wealthy looking people got up on stage and told their stories. The young woman thought to herself how badly she wanted to be one of those people – someone that everyone listened too and respected. Someone successful!

Encouraged by what she had seen and heard, the young woman agreed to join these people and eagerly accepted tapes to listen too and books to read. The young woman learned that the people on stage were referred to as ‘Eagles’ because they soared above and beyond, were proud and mighty in their field. They were leaders……….something the young woman had never even dreamed of being, always the quiet one in any group. Listening always but never heard. Her friends had been right. The meeting had given her knowledge and her life would never be the same again. She wanted to be an Eagle.

  • Love stories Sonia  – they come from the heart.  About becoming an Eagle – have you ever read the book Jonathan Livingston Seagull?  Jonathan wanted more out of life than to just hang with the other gulls.
