Stay-at-Home Moms Who Work
Staying at home with your little ones rather than packing them off to daycare and rushing to a job out in the brick-and-mortar world five days a week sounds like a dream come true, doesn’t it? Your kids would benefit from your presence in their lives, and the whole “make a living” thing would be so much easier if you could accomplish it from home! Just think — no dressing up, no putting on makeup, no fighting rush hour traffic twice a day — what is there about being a stay-at-home mom and working online that isn’t to like?
Actually, there’s nothing not to like after you once get yourself, your kids, your hubby, your mom, and your girlfriends convinced that you do actually HAVE a job even if you don’t get dressed and leave home. It’s a funny thing, but it’s true. Everybody (including YOU) will assume that your time is your own at first.
When the kids want your attention, you’ll give it to them. When your mom asks you to run an errand for her, you will. When your girlfriends call you on the phone, you’ll talk for an hour. And while you are showering your kids with attention, making your mom happy, and catching up on all the latest gossip, you aren’t getting the work done that you are being paid to do. Being a stay-at-home mom with an online job requires self-discipline as well as a set of do-not-disturb-during-working-hours rules that apply to your kids, your mom, your hubby, and your girlfriends.

Even if you are working from home, you are still working. It takes time and some serious effort to convince yourself and all of the other people in your world that you really DO have a job, and that you are just as obligated to that job as you would be if you were working in an office in the city.
