Why in the World Would I Do This????

Starting and successfully running an online business will present you with many problems and challenges. It will challenge you to learn new things and present you with technical challenges to overcome along the way. It will be enough to make you want to throw in the towel and quit.

I want you to be aware of this up front. You will run into obstacles and have days where everything seems to go wrong.

In one of my earlier posts, I talked about the importance of being Persistent and Consistent, but how do you do it when you are so frustrated that you want to quit????

The thing that will make the difference between you overcoming the obstacles or quitting is knowing the answer to the question “Why in the World Would I do this?”.

The stronger the reason, the better the odds that you will push through and overcome.

I urge you – Don’t underestimate the importance of this. This is also know as “Knowing your Why”.

As you are deciding if you will start an online business, or soon after you do, you need to take some time and identify your major driving reason for making it successful. It needs to be something with a lot of emotional importance to you.

  • Maybe you want to be able to earn enough so your spouse can quit the job they hate.
  • Maybe it’s to put enough money away to pay off your house.
  • or save a down payment to finally buy a house.
  • Or to put enough money away for education for your kids.
  • Perhaps it’s to generate enough supplementary income to retire.

The answer will be different for everyone and you must discover yours so that when the obstacles arise, and they will, your desire to reach your “Why” will drive you towards overcoming them.

Another thing that can help is having the support of a team that wants to help you achieve your goals. Being part of a Team that has similar goals can help keep you on track and be a resource to help solve the problems. In the book “Think and Grow Rich” this is called being part of a Mastermind Group and is one of the steps to success – don’t try to go it alone.
