Top 5 Reasons to get into Network Marketing

Throw away all your prejudices and preconceived notions and think like a business person for minute. Network Marketing or Multi-level Marketing (MLM) is not a “get rich quick thing.” It’s a legitimate business model that can have HUGE payoffs if you’re willing to put in the work. The folks that don’t put in the work and don’t make money right away end up quitting. As a result, they claim Network Marketing is a “scam” and “doesn’t work” because they are unable to overcome minor setbacks. Simply put, they lack mental toughness.

Now that we’ve gotten that out of the way, here are the Top 5 Reasons to get into Network Marketing.

  1. BE YOUR OWN BOSS: Most entrepreneurs become entrepreneurs to be their own boss and set their own schedule. I can tell you from experience that it’s pretty damn awesome working for yourself. Prior to opening my own business I worked for a large successful corporation. With no prior experience in the industry I started at an entry level position. Five years and three promotions later I was in management. A year removed from winning the top award this company has to offer I was phased out by new management. Now I have direct control of my future.
  2. LOW CASH INVESTMENT: Starting and running your own business can quickly become a sizable investment. Start-up costs like forming the corporation are a small part of it.  There’s also equipment (computers, chairs, desks, printers), software, marketing materials, research and development, rent, legal fees, branding, etc… the list goes on. In Network Marketing the initial investment is usually less than $500.00. The infrastructure and support is already in place. Branding. Done. R&D. Done. Legal fees. Taken care of. Of course you still have to pay for some hardware like a computer and a printer but chances are you have those things already.
  3. START PART-TIME WHILE YOU GROW: Look, I get it. It’s nice thinking that paycheck is coming in every two weeks. The beauty of Network Marketing is that you don’t have to quit your job to get started. American entrepreneur and personal development guru Jim Rohn says, “Work full time on your job and part time on your fortune.”
  4. PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT: Working in Network Marketing can be a life changing experience. The good Network Marketing companies go out of their way to develop their associates. If you’ve been working in corporate America for a significant amount of time and then start working for yourself you will undoubtedly need to make some changes. Developing and maintaining a positive attitude is the first and most important step. A positive attitude and tough skin is paramount to your success in Network Marketing. Patience and a little delayed gratification helps too. Remember you’re building a business.
  5. THE FREELANCE/SHARE ECONOMY: More and more Americans are taking control of their financial future. People are realizing that employees are expendable. If your company is cutting, you or your department could be gone at any time. A 2015 study by Edelman and Berland found that 53 million Americans are doing freelance work (contracting). This makes up about 34% of the workforce. And it’s expected to balloon to 50% by 2020. These folks can be found on sites like Fiverr, Angie’s List, Uber, and Odesk.

Is Network Marketing for everyone? No. But it’s a great way for aspiring entrepreneurs to get started. “The top of the network marketing system is open to everyone-unlike traditional corporate systems, which allow only one person to reach the top of the company.” Huge payoffs with minimal risk. If you’re going to invest in something, invest in yourself
