Settting S.M.A.R.T. Goals

For me it is often hard to know the difference between goals and objectives.  This is why after I watched the video on the back office of Freedom-Preneur I had to ponder if I been using each word the right way and my answer is… Huh! I do confused myself.

In order to be clear I researched each terms which I found out they are ‘Interchangeably” and if I use it constructively it will help me to get from where I am to where I want to go.

One thing I know for sure thought both are way of moving forward as they both involve forward motion although  I can accomplish it in very different ways.

To visualize what is “Goal”,  I can think of it is as the “Universe” where I can hope all my efforts will bring me my goals.

While “Objectives” are about these little plan of action which is a short term.

To me, goals tend to be long and in one direction and short in tactics.

For example, I can set a goal to climb the Jacobs ladder  without having a specific plan on how to do it the right way.  By defining a goal of what I want to accomplish at a specific time, tactics will be developed as I move forward.

With the right visualization goal can be achieve by:

  1. Define the destination
  2. Changes the direction to move toward the destination
  3. Changes the mindset to adjust to and support the new direction
  4. Creates the necessity to develop specific tactics

As Rebel and I know our objectives goals tend to change our mindset as our focus change too.  When our focus set into something we have things to think about. I believe once goal is set, affirmation follow which  we can project the desired (but as yet unattained) destination.

Now, I am going to talk a bit about Objectives which  just really a tactics.  This is first what has to happen because it is an action plans to get where we are and where we want to be.

Once it is realize a goal surely is to defines the action and destination, but the path to get their is first taken and accomplished by sequence of action.

This is been a wonderful lesson.

    Awesome discussion of goal setting.
If you don’t know where you’re going, you’ll probably never get there.

It’s a lot like driving somewhere.
    First you find your destination.
Then you decide which roads will get you there fastest.

Too bad there’s no GPS for success 🙂

Even if there is a GPS still I won’t trust it. Just keep moving forward.

  • Straighten that elbow! 🙂

I did after a month and when the string hit my right arm because I was not paying attention. I learned lots after that incident.

You must be an archer that is why you noticed my elbow was not straight.
