There is a way for everything in this world. Even when life seems to be pushing you into a corner, when everything around you gets dark and stuffy and you almost feel like you can’t breathe, if you watch carefully there is a way out, there is a spark of light coming through a rift. You just need to be alert and ready to see it.
Did you ever ruin your husband’s shirts or jerseys with a point ball pen that found its way into the washing machine without you noticing it, and then into the drier? Well, it just happened to me this past week.
I opened the drier and surprise! There it was: black ink all over the place and everything in it, spotted – some more and some less. Luckily, it was a small load of light clothes. Of course, some pieces were too stained to even bother salvaging. On the other hand, there were my husband’s special referee jerseys… Well, I had to find a way to fix them.
After some thought, I remembered I had cleaned small ink spots with rubbing alcohol before. So, I tried that, but it just spread the ink and made the blotches bigger. So, I decided to break the news to my husband and face the consequences. I imagined he would be furious with me. But he weren’t. He told me it would be all right, and that I just needed some hair spray. Can you believe it? It sounds very unusual doesn’t it?
So, I followed my husband’s instructions. I sprayed hairspray on each spot and then blotted each one with a damp warm cloth. It surely is a bit time consuming, and seems like an eternity, but it does the trick.
I know you probably thinking what this cheap, insignificant incident has to do with your real life problems. It’s true, looking at it now that it’s over and fixed, it seems like something very small. So it is with every problem in life: when we first encounter it, it’s huge, but as we tackle it, its impossibility starts to diminish.
Dear ladies, the same way, if you’re discouraged today because you’ve lost your job and seem not to be able to find another one. Don’t despair! Look carefully around you: Yes, there will be offers that are good for nothing and need to be discarded; however, you may find something that will work and help you earn an income even if it seems unusual. The important thing is that you give it a try. Carefully follow the instructions, even if it seems tedious and time consuming at the beginning, be persistent, and “viola”, the results will come.
