I had never really thought about the term lifestyle business that much, yet recently the term has come to my attention several times, so I decided to touch on it today.
A LifeStyle Business is
a business that allows you the freedom to build your business around your life. If you love traveling and you choose a business type that requires you to be pinned to a physical location, that’s not going to fit well with your goal of wanting to be able to earn income while you travel.
If on the other hand, you choose to build a business that can be run from your computer and an Internet connection, you’re halfway there.
These days, a business can be built around just about anything you are passionate about. In the book, Crush It! by Gary Vaynerchuk, the author wrote about his passion for fine wine and his journey to building his love of wine into a 60-million dollar business.
If you want to have a LifeStyle Business, you need to consider what is most important to you. If money was no object, how would you spend your time? Make a list and cross off any business that does not allow you to spend your time doing the things that matter most to you.
Now, don’t get me wrong, it’s not going to be a 100 percent of the time you get to do what you want, because you still have to work your business. It’s a matter of having a flexible schedule and or a flexible work location.
A few ways individuals break into working from home are affiliate or network marketing, virtually tutoring, blogging to make money, selling informational products by setting up sales pages that run on autopilot once they are set up, writing articles or books, etc. There are dozens of ways to create a business that can turn into a lifestyle business for you if you work at it.
One way to create a lifestyle business is with a continuity program such as a membership
People are hungry for great content. Create a membership site if you have a wealth of information on a subject, where you charge $5-$19 a month, for example, for some type of information that you could create by video, or podcast once or twice a week, making the content evergreen and growing. At the $5 level, you would need to have 1000 members to be at $5000 income a month but at the $19 level, you only need 264 members to be at a $5000 monthly income.
If you are not up to creating your own membership site, you can do what I do and help people by adding value to an existing membership site.
I earn $100 a month per member as an affiliate of another program I use and recommend and show my members how to create income the same way. I only need 50 members to earn $5000 monthly income and my members get to use a marketing product to build whatever they have a passion for. I add value by working with my members to help them with their goals.
It’s a win-win.
If you find a niche and solve a problem, or provide something they are hungry for, you will be on your way.
Here are a few ways to start building a fan base of potential members
start a show on Blogtalkradio.com
start a blog and share your posts on sites where your audience hangs out
start a Facebook fan page about your topic
start a YouTube channel about your topic
start a group on Facebook about your topic and make it private
(then it’s just one more step to an even more exclusive paid membership)
Do your research, be consistent, get a mentor, and adjust when needed.
If you want a lifestyle business, a business that gives you more freedom to set your work schedule around your life and allows you to work virtually, it’s within your reach.
Have a question or comment, I would love to hear from you.
