We’re planning a trip out to see my Dad this month.
He’s on the last leg of his journey, so we gotta get out there and see him while we have time.
Today Rockit had an idea to see if we could make the return trip by train.
Not hopping a freight (which I’ve done in the past) but on Amtrak.
Turns out that it looked pretty good at first.
The price was OK and even though we couldn’t find a room, it seemed the discomfort would be overcome by the adventure factor.
And then things went sideways.
Turns out that different days have widely varying prices.
Much like the airlines.
I’m talkin’ triple the price.
Yikes.
I could put up with the longer trip and everything so Rockit could enjoy
the adventure, but that’s a bit much.
I consider everything I do with Rockit to be an adventure, so I was lookin’ forward to it too.
So the train is out.
It’s bad enough that she was lookin’ all over the net on different travel sites to find a decent flight.
I’m sure we’ve mostly all been there.
Choice is good, but it can turn into a nightmare.
Sometimes it’s just freakin’ awesome to be able to go to one place and be able to get everything taken care of.
