Firstly, do you know the difference between being interested or being committed? I will give you a definition of both and then we will see what you think you are.
The interested person is one who wants to achieve something but will find every excuse why they are not succeeding. They have excuse after excuse but they will never accept that they are the problem. They will have excuses similar to these – “I can’t get a better job because I don’t have enough skills” or “I don’t know how to do this and nobody is prepared to do it for me.” The problem does not lie with others but with the person who is continuously making the excuses. The interested person will never want to accept that they are at fault and often they are their own worst enemy.
The committed person, on the other hand, is totally committed to being a success. If they encounter a problem, they solve it and keep going forward. There are no excuses that will keep them from accomplishing what the want. They have an unshakable belief in themselves. Instead of thinking they cannot have the job of their dreams, they will enroll themselves in further education that will enable them to get that job. It may take them sometime but they know that they will eventually achieve what they want.
After you have established whether you are interested or committed – you may realize, if you are totally honest with yourself, that you are not as committed as you should be as you tend to make excuses. However the best news is that you can change. I am not saying it will be easy but we can all change the present life we live and by taking action in your life you can achieve. The life of your dreams is there for you to achieve. You must have goals and you must plan how you are going to achieving them.
Now, I know that you will look at your friends and colleagues and see which category they fit into. Don’t be too harsh in your judgement. They may just need some encouragement and a little help. Remember Zig Ziglar said it very well – “You can have everything you want in life if you help enough people get everything they want in life.”
