It’s been an interesting day! I was on a nearly 3-hour call with two amazing men who have been doing business online for many years. The call was more a get to know each other mixed with training, but it finally hit me. I’m not really in business just to make money. Yes, the money will be nice, but I am really in business to show the world that if I can be successful, then so can you.

When I was in my mid-20s I began working for the state, and at the same time my mom had moved to Florida to care for her mother. I’d go visit about once a year, and no matter how many times my mom told my grandma that I was a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor my grandma always told people I was a librarian. She told people I was a librarian because that’s the career people with disabilities were able to do. It was simple because you sat behind a desk and told people where to find things. That’s the image people had of librarians.

Does the thoughts of my grandma make me any less proud of the nearly 21 years I accomplished of full-time work as a state employee? Absolutely not. And as a counselor and supervisor for 9 of those years, I helped people with disabilities and their families to realize that there is life beyond the disability. But now it’s time for me to show people with and without disabilities that they can reach for the stars. We all have issues to deal with every day. We all have struggles. But be thankful for what you do have. We all have value to share with others. I want you to leave me comments, so I know if what I am saying is reaching you and making a difference.
